AppColl has a "Set Citation Status" button in Prior Art pages. This button can be used to manually change the status of one or more references. A popup window appears when one or more references are checked and the button is clicked.

 

The popup window two sets of option groups: one to set the status of the reference relative to being cited in an IDS and the other to set if the examiner has consider the reference. Clicking one of the radio buttons and optionally adding a date, will update the checked references as desired. For example, if some references are currently marked as 'Not cited', their status can be updated to show they were cited elsewhere by clicking the appropriate radio button and entering a date.

Please note that changing the 'Considered by Examiner' status will not, by itself, affect the IDS citation status. The option groups are completely independent.
 

Don't Change Citation Status

Checking this option prevents any changes to the IDS citation status of the checked references. Use this option if you wish to only change the 'Considered by examiner' status in the second option group.

Not Yet Cited
Checking this option will update the checked references to show as not having been cited before. For example, if these references were previously marked as having been cited in another IDS or by the examiner, the 'Not yet cited' option will remove this association and free these references up for being cited down the road.

Please note references that were cited in an AppColl generated IDS cannot be manually updated to show something else. The only way to show that one or more references are no longer cited in an AppColl generated IDS is to delete the IDS from AppColl. Further, references cannot be manually updated to show they were cited in an AppColl generated IDS. Such references will be properly updated when they were selected for inclusion when creating an IDS within AppColl. 

Citation not Required

Checking this option will update the checked references to show that they do not need to be cited in the future. This will update the Cite Count column from the main Prior Art screen to exclude these references from the count. Click here for more details on this option.

Previously Cited (not in AppColl)

Checking this option will update the checked references to show they were previously cited in an IDS outside of AppColl. An IDS date is required to show the date of the IDS. This will update the Cite Count column from the main Prior Art screen to exclude these references from the count.

Cited by Examiner

Checking this option will update the checked references to show they were cited by an Examiner. A cite date is required to show the date the references were cited by the Examiner. This will update the Cite Count column from the main Prior Art screen to exclude these references from the count.

Don't Change Examiner Consideration Status

Checking this option prevents any changes to the Examiner Consideration status of the checked references. Use this option if you wish to only change the IDS citation status in the first option group.

Not Considered by Examiner

Checking this option marks the checked references as not considered by the examiner.

Considered by Examiner

Checking this option marks the checked references as considered by the examiner.
