Extend the Due Dates of Tasks with Extendable Deadlines

To skip and extend an extendable deadline task, such as a "Respond to Non-Final Office Action - 3 Month Deadline" or "File Section 8 & 15 Declaration - 6 month Deadline" tasks, set the Task Status to “Missed”. This will close the task and create the next deadline in the sequence. For example, missing the 3-month deadline will create the 4-month deadline. Missing the 5-month deadline will create the final (6-month non-extendable) deadline. The following step explain this process:

  1. From the Tasks module (or from the lower portion of a Matter Details page), find the task and click on the status in the TaskStatus column (normally it will be “Open”).
  2. Select "Missed" from the Task Status drop down menu.
  3. Change the date if desired.
  4. (Optional) Enter a comment indicating why the deadline was missed.
  5. Click the Set Status button.
  6. The old task is now closed out and the new deadline is created.

The following video explains these steps in more detail.
