By default, if a task passes its due date, it remains on the open docket. This is to ensure that AppColl does not close any tasks for you or complete any tasks that should still be monitored. However, you may wish that some tasks automatically close when they are overdue. For instance, the Auto Close States option allows tasks to update automatically, preventing overdue clutter and ensuring the next task in a sequence is triggered when necessary.
- To begin, hover over the Tasks module and select Manage Task Types.
- Select the Task Type for which you wish to configure auto close states.

- In the task settings, select from the options in Auto Close State. This setting determines what happens when the task reaches its due date without being completed. In the example below, selecting Missed as the Auto Close State ensures that if the task is not completed by the due date it will automatically change to Missed. This would trigger the next deadline in the workflow. Other options include Completed, Deleted, Not Needed, and Transferred.

- When you are finished, click Save.
