Patent Matters have a Fast Track drop down menu which is useful to record any type of enhanced prosecution timelines. In other words, these options allow an application to be examined out of it's normal order. Often times the goal is for complete examination within 12 months. This field is purely static. No tasks generate when a value is entered (although you could certainly create some). The different option definitions are shown below.
Accelerated Examination - A Petition to Make Special must be filed and granted. Usually requires a pre-examination search report by the applicant.
Expedited Examination - Only allowed for first-time patent filers. Does not required a pre-examination search.
Track One - Also known as prioritized examination. Much less requirements than accelerated examination. No pre-examination search required. Can be filed with an RCE. Costly.
Petition to Make Special - legacy value that was used before Acceleration Examination was added. We recommend using Accelerated Examination instead. We maintain this option since may have used it in the past.
PACE - Used for PCT applications.
