What's Changing: A New Source for USPTO Data
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has officially retired the Patent Examination Data System (PEDS), which previously served as a primary source for public patent information. The USPTO's new and more robust data system, the Open Data Portal (ODP), is now the official source for this information.
In response to this change, AppColl has successfully transitioned all of its systems to use the new ODP for updating U.S. patent matters.
What This Means for You
For AppColl users, this transition ensures the continued accuracy and reliability of your data. The Matters module will now automatically update published U.S. patent information by pulling data directly from the USPTO’s new ODP.
Seamless Transition: You don't need to take any action. The switch was handled automatically by the AppColl platform.
Continued Accuracy: You can be confident that the data in your matters, including legal status, bibliographic information, and prosecution history, is current and sourced from the USPTO’s new official system.
Improved Reliability: The ODP is a more modern and stable platform, designed to provide more consistent and faster data delivery than the retired PEDS system.
Summary
The retired PEDS system has been replaced by the new USPTO Open Data Portal (ODP). AppColl's Matters module is now configured to pull all published U.S. patent updates directly from the ODP, ensuring your data remains accurate and up-to-date with no action required on your part.
