We're excited to announce a new set of features and updates that are now live in AppColl! These enhancements are designed to save you time and give you more control over your IP portfolio.

Here's a breakdown of the new features and what they do:

1. Workflow & Task Management

  • Matter Task Status Report: Added Matter Task Status as a new data source for dashboard reports. It finds matters with no active or open tasks, and matters with no tasks at all. You can view each group on its own or together.
  • Filing Basis Filter in Tasks: Added a filter for a matter's Filing Basis to the Tasks module.
  • Enable/Disable Task Types: There's a new way to stop certain tasks from generating automatically. On the Manage Task Types page, select the task types, click Bulk Edit, and set AutoGenerationEnabled to False. Set it back to True to turn them on again. This only affects future tasks.
  • New Task Type Columns and Fields: Task types have new columns and fields you can view and work with. See the linked article for a breakdown of every part of a task type.
  • Task Type Filtering: You can filter and manipulate your docket on the main Tasks page and the Task Types page to display the information in the manner that suits you. (Click here for information on filtering information.) After setting your filters, you can save your format as a report to regenerate dynamically without resetting the filters, as described in this tutorial.

2. Patent Prosecution

  • First Office Action Date (Actual): AppColl now records the actual date of a matter's first office action, right next to the estimated date. It fills in from the first non-final rejection AppColl receives from the USPTO. You can search and filter on it to see which matters have or haven't received an office action.
  • Terminal Disclaimer Checkbox: Added a Terminal Disclaimer checkbox to the priority connection popup. Checking it adds the related matter's AttorneyRef/Application Number to the Terminal Disclaimer field, and unchecking it removes it.

3. Trademarks & Country Data

4. Forms

  • AttorneyRef Intake Email Field: Added a new form field, Matter.AttorneyRefIntakeEmail, which gives you the AttorneyRef version of the matter intake email address.

5. UI & Usability

  • Filter Query Protection: On the Billing and Tasks pages, AppColl now spots when a filter query is likely too long to run. It shows a popup and unlocks your filters so you don't get stuck on an error.
  • Non-English Characters in CSV Exports: Exported CSV files now support non-English characters, including Hebrew.
